HGM ultrafine mill for GCC Production Process


1. Raw-material preparation  

   • Mine or quarry high-calcium limestone, marble or chalk.  

   • Primary jaw crusher → hammer / impact crusher reduces lumps to ≤ 25 mm .


2. Feed storage & metering  

   • Belt conveyor and bucket elevator deliver crushed stone to a sealed storage hopper.  

   • Vibrating feeder ensures a steady, controlled feed rate into the HGM mill.


3. Ultrafine grinding – HGM mill core stage  

   Working principle  

   • Main grinding unit grinds material between high-pressure rollers and a multilayer ring.  

   • A variable-speed classifier instantly separates fines at 150-3000 mesh and recycles oversize.

   • The sealed, negative-pressure loop yields 5–45 µm powder with 30 % less energy and zero dust.


   Typical performance (HGM80 example)  

   • Feed size ≤ 20 mm, output 0.5–4 t/h at 1250 mesh (10 µm D97).  

   • Specific energy ≈ 30 % lower than ball-mill systems; noise < 80 dB(A) .


4. Classification & recirculation  

   • Coarse particles rejected by the classifier fall back onto the grinding table for further reduction; fines proceed to collection.  

   • Sharp top-size cut delivers narrow particle-size distributions required for plastics, paints, paper coatings.


5. Dust-free collection  

   • Pulse-jet bag filter captures 99.9 % of airborne fines; filtered air is vented or recycled to the blower.  

   • Explosion vents and CO₂ inerting options meet ATEX / NFPA standards when handling ultra-fine powders.


6. Optional surface modification  

   • Continuous on-line coating unit injects stearic acid or other functional modifiers at 90–120 °C to improve dispersibility and hydrophobicity for polymer masterbatches.


7. Packaging & logistics  

   • Rotary valve feeds finished GCC into big-bag or 25 kg valve-bag packers under inert gas flush if required.  

   • Integrated PLC records batch weight, fineness and moisture, ensuring traceability.


Environmental & operational highlights  

• Closed-loop, negative-pressure system eliminates dust leakage.  

• Grinding ring and roller forged from special alloy give 12–24 months wear life under medium-hard limestone .  

• Total plant footprint is < 150 m² for a 2 t/h, 1250-mesh line, facilitating retrofit into existing buildings.


End-product quality  

• Brightness ≥ 95 % ISO, top cut 10 µm (1250 mesh), oil absorption 18–22 g/100 g (coated).  

• Consistently meets the requirements of high-grade offset paper, PVC cable and automotive sealants.
