Two lists were laid out on the table; the names were almost identical, and the equipment diagrams looked very similar too, but the prices differed significantly. Only when I flipped to the end did it finally dawn on me: the cheaper option listed just a bare-bones host machine, while the more expensive one already included the feeder, fan, dust collector, piping, and even the electrical control system—all bundled together. Comparing these two total prices is meaningless.

This is precisely the most challenging aspect when selecting air classifier mills. Don’t just focus on the device name; that’s only the beginning. What truly determines whether this solution works and how well it performs is what material you need to grind, the desired fineness of the powder, and how your production line is planned to operate.

Don’t get confused by the name; first, understand the device’s operating principle.

An air-classified mill, simply put, combines the processes of “pulverization” and “classification” into a single machine. After the material is fed into the crushing chamber at a uniform rate, the rotor, equipped with hammers or a toothed ring, rotates at high speed to break the material into smaller pieces. Next, the airflow emerges and blows the powder into the classification zone above. The fine powder passes through the classifier wheel and becomes a qualified product; the coarse particles cannot pass through, are returned to their original state, and fall back down to be ground again.

Understand this process, it is not easy to be fooled when buying equipment. Some manufacturers refer to an “air classifier,” but that is merely a device used for separating particles by size; it typically needs to be used in conjunction with a ball mill or similar equipment, as it cannot perform any crushing on its own. There are also fluidized-bed jet mills; although their names include “air” and “mill,” they achieve pulverization by relying on the particles colliding with one another, and their internal structure is entirely different.

In everyday use, on websites or in quotation requests, we often encounter various terms such as Air Classifying Mill, Classifier Mill, or ACM Grinding Mill. Knowing these terms can help you categorize equipment, but you should never base your solution design solely on the names. For example, Kollyric’s CCLM Vortex Air Classifying Mill is a typical air-classified grinding mill; however, the specific configuration still depends on your material and site conditions.

Material properties are more effective than ten-page promotional brochures.

A knowledgeable manufacturer, upon receiving your inquiry, will never immediately commit to a specific production capacity in tons; instead, they will follow up with you to clarify the material specifications. What are the material’s constituents? What is its hardness? How severe is its wear? What are its moisture content and viscosity like? Is it sensitive to heat? Does it generate static electricity, or even pose an explosion risk? What is the feed particle size, and what is the intended use of the discharged material? Don’t find these questions tedious—each answer could significantly alter the equipment’s internal design.

For example, if your material costs a machine (strong abrasiveness), then you have to make it clear to the manufacturer when you 1 it: what material is used for the board, lining board and grading wheel? Is it not troublesome to change it? How long can the spare parts last? Another example is that some materials melt as soon as they are hot, so you have to focus on how to go about the cold air, how to cool them and how long can the system be turned on continuously. If the dust is flammable, explosive, or toxic, then life‑saving safety features such as static grounding, nitrogen purging, and explosion‑relief valves are by no means optional extras that can be eliminated.

If your production line frequently switches between different material grades every couple of days, how easy it is to clean directly impacts your output. Don’t listen to the manufacturer’s 1 light “easy to clean”, you have to ask: is it convenient to disassemble? Is there a dead corner inside? Will the residue of the previous pot pollute the 1 pot? Especially for food, medicine, cosmetics or high purity chemical industry, the material requirements, sealing level and hygiene standards are all different, and a name alone can not guarantee that it can pass the acceptance.

“How fine” cannot be determined by just saying “a few micrometers.”

Many buyers, when discussing requirements, often say: “We need to achieve so many microns.” This chat can be, directly into the contract when the acceptance criteria is too empty. You said a few microns, is it D50 (median diameter), D90, D97, or the absolute maximum particle size, or sieve residue?

For example, can “running rough” be acceptable? How strict should the particle size distribution be? If these hard indicators are not nailed in advance, the buyer and the seller must have their own thoughts. Looking at the quotation sheet looks similar, the actual thing is far from the same.

Then there is the test, not just by mouth, but by evidence. How to sample the powder? What instrument is used to measure it? What is the dispersion method? All these steps have to fall on the paper. Otherwise, even if the contract says “how many eyes” or “ultra-fine”, if there is no unified test environment, the results cannot be reproduced at all.

When you really work in the workshop, if you want to grind the material finer, you have to adjust the speed of the grading wheel, the air volume and the speed of the crushing rotor. This 1 adjustment, the output immediately fell, the electricity bill rose, and the wear and tear of the machine also accelerated. Therefore, putting aside these major premises to talk about production capacity is pure hooliganism. The capacity written in the contract must be followed by a long list of restrictions: what kind of material is used? How much is the feed? How fine is the requirement? How much water content? How much is the test air volume? If these are not written clearly in black and white, once the skin is pulled, the sentence “how many tons per hour” will not hold water at all.

In addition, don’t take the “host” in the quotation as the whole production line. If the air flow grading mill wants to turn, it is not enough to rely on a main engine, but also to be equipped with a feeder, an induced draft fan, a cyclone collector, a bag filter, a pipeline and an electric control cabinet. If the project requirements are high, you have to add a fan, metal separator, nitrogen closed circuit system or explosion-proof valve.

The most useful way to look at the quotation is to follow the “walking route” of the material 1 in your mind: where does the material come in? What equipment passes through the middle? Where’s the last place to pack? Where does the raised dust run? Who is responsible for the electronic control system? In addition, you have to take into account the foundation of your own factory: can the ground withstand the vibration? Did you leave enough space for maintenance? Is the equipment opening direction correct? how to put the dust collector? Can noise and dust pass the EIA? Is the fire and explosion-proof partition in the factory enough? The size in the picture album will give you a general impression at most and will definitely not replace the final engineering drawings.

If you understand these, you will understand why they are all called “air flow grading grinding”, and the two quotations can be so different. The difference in price is either due to the material and explosion-proof configuration, or somebody else is reporting a complete system that can be plugged in, while the other only reports a “bare metal” for you “. Only by pulling the scope of supply from both sides to the same plate to compare the price can you really feel at ease.

If your material is special, it is better to arrange a small or pilot test before buying. But remember: when you try the machine, don’t just come back with 1 bags of finished powder to make a job. You have to write down the state of raw materials, equipment model, air volume parameters, rotating speed, actual time production, powder temperature rise and power consumption at that time, and file them with the samples. In the future, whether it is expansion of production or acceptance, these cold data are much more useful than the light sentence “it looked good at that time.

Taking advantage of the trial opportunity, you can also touch the bottom of the manufacturer by the way: Can they take out the real data of similar materials? The process flow chart given is not complete? The manufacturer is unreliable, so you can see it clearly.

How to choose wear-resistant parts, which spare parts to send, which step of door-to-door installation and debugging, and how to calculate after-sales are all on paper before paying. If your process has very strict requirements on particle size distribution, or if you need to frequently adjust the fineness online, then you’ll also have to thoroughly examine the classifier wheel’s design, whether the motor is independently driven, and how the airflow is precisely controlled.

When purchasing air classifier mills, it’s definitely not as simple as just picking the one with the highest value on a specification sheet. Understand your materials thoroughly, quantify the standard of “how fine”, look at all the bits and pieces around the host computer, and finally verify the scheme with detailed test data. According to this routine, whether this equipment is suitable or not, you will naturally look like a mirror.

Compare air classifier mills by material, particle-size targets, system scope, testing, and operating conditions.

Compare Air Classifier Mills By Material, Particle-Size Targets, System Scope, Testing, And Operating Conditions.

11

post-10738","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news-article
10739
204
1789703448:4
11
12
4

none
a:0:{}

0

sidebar-widgets4
default
Air Classifier Mills: A Practical Selection Guide
Compare Air Classifier Mills By Material, Particle-Size Targets, System Scope, Testing, And Operating Conditions.
Air Classifier Mills
["GET
